Responsibilities and Tour Conditions. Cultural Horizons Unlimited, Inc., which does business as Cultural Hi-Ways, acts only as an agent for the suppliers of lodging, sightseeing, entertainment, transportation and food services, all of which are independent contractors. As an agent, Cultural Hi-Ways has no control over the employees, equipment or operation of its suppliers, and therefore can't be held liable for personal injuries, property damage, accidents, delays or other inconveniences that result from the acts or omissions of these suppliers, their employees, or vehicles or equipment owned or operated by them. Likewise, Cultural Hi-Ways can't be held liable for the acts or omissions of any other party who isn't under its direct control.
Sleeping arrangements. The tour prices quoted are based on "quad" occupancy: that is, 4 persons of the same gender sharing a room with 2 double beds. Please contact our office for single, double or triple occupancy prices.
Roommates. We encourage you to sign up even if you don't know anyone else going on the tour since you're sure to make new friends along the way. In fact, about half our guests are in the same situation when they book.
When you make your reservation please let us know if you have any particular preferences regarding roommates: for example, you'd like to share a room with others from your own country, about your same age, etc. We'll do our best to meet your needs and room you with 3 others of the same gender to give you the lowest possible price.
Friends and family. Our tours are designed for 18-28-year-olds. We're happy to make special arrangements for family members, 18 and over, who'd like to join our tour but don't fall within the age range we normally serve.
Luggage. Luggage on our overnight tours is limited to two pieces: a large suitcase plus a carry-on bag.
Travel to Canada by non-U.S. citizens.
a) A number of au pair programs require that an au pair send her/his white form DS-2019 to them for signature by the program's Responsible Officer. (That signature acknowledges that the au pair is in good standing with the program at the time she/he wishes to travel.) Please make sure to check with a representative of your program to see whether this policy applies to you. Also, make sure to do this well in advance of the departure date of your tour with Cultural Hi-Ways. Kindly do NOT send your visa to Cultural Hi-Ways. Also, if you're an au pair, make sure that the trip to Canada you're considering doesn't fall within the 13th month of your stay.
b) If you arrived in the U.S. on or after April 30, 2013, you may not have received an I-94 (Arrival/Departure Record) since U.S. Customs and Border Protection no longer requires international non-immigrant visitors to fill out that form. On the other hand, if you were given an I-94 white card then you must bring it with you on the tour. (If you arrived in the U.S. on or after April 30, 2013 and were not given an I-94 white card then this means the authorities can access your details electronically.)
c) Citizens of certain countries require a separate Canadian visa to visit Canada. IT IS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY TO DETERMINE IF YOU REQUIRE THAT VISA AND TO FOLLOW-UP ACCORDINGLY. Please note that Cultural Hi-Ways can't be held responsible for guests who fail to provide required documents.
d) In any event, U.S. law requires that individuals that are neither citizens nor nationals of the United States carry their immigration documents with them at all times.
Travel to Canada by U.S. citizens. U.S. citizens are required to present one of the following documents when returning from Canada: U.S. Passport, U.S. Passport Card, Enhanced Driver's License or Trusted Traveler Program Card. Please click here for more information.
Receipt. Once we receive your reservation we'll send you a confirmation receipt by email. You don't have a confirmed spot on the tour until you receive that email. (We reserve the right to cancel your reservation unless we receive payment in full by the applicable due date). Then, no later than one week before departure, we'll send you a boarding letter via email. If you don't receive that email please contact Cultural Hi-Ways as soon as possible.
Privacy of your data. The following outlines our privacy practices and applies solely to information collected by this website. It'll notify you of the following:
- What personally identifiable information is collected from you through the website, how it is used and with whom it may be shared.
- What choices are available to you regarding the use of your data.
- The security procedures in place to protect the misuse of your information.
- How you can correct any inaccuracies in the information.
Information collection, use and sharing. We're the sole owners of the information collected on this site. We only have access to/collect information that you voluntarily give us via email or other direct contact from you. We'll not sell or rent this information to anyone.
We'll use your information to respond to you regarding the reason you contacted us. We'll not share your information with any third party outside of our organization, other than as necessary to fulfill your request (for example, to take part in one of our tours).
Your access to and control over information. You may opt out of any future contacts from us at any time. You can do the following at any time by contacting us via the email address or phone number given on our website:
- See what data we have about you, if any
- Change or correct any data we have about you
- Have us delete any data we have about you
- Express any concern you have about our use of your data
Security. We take precautions to protect your information. For example, tour payments are made via PayPal and that information is encrypted and transmitted in a secure way. You can verify this by looking for a closed lock icon on your web browser, or looking for "https" at the beginning of the address of the PayPal webpage.
We also protect your information offline. Only employees and service providers who need the information to perform a specific task (for example, guest services) are granted access to personally identifiable information.
Tour participation requests. We request information from you when you choose to participate in one of our tours. In that case, you must provide contact information (for example, your name and address). This information is used to process your participation request. If we have trouble processing your request, we'll use this information to contact you.
Links. This website may contain links to other sites. Please be aware that we're not responsible for the content or privacy practices of such other sites. We encourage our visitors to be aware when they leave our site and to read the privacy statements of any other site that collects personally identifiable information.
Use of photos, videos and other images for marketing purposes. We welcome and encourage you to share photos, videos and other images from your Cultural Hi-Ways tour with us.
In that regard, you agree that, while participating in any tour, photos, videos or other images may be taken by other guests or representatives of Cultural Hi-Ways that may contain or feature you. You consent to any such photos, videos or other images being taken and grant a perpetual, royalty-free, worldwide, irrevocable license to Cultural Hi-Ways and its assigns, to reproduce same for marketing purposes, in any medium whatsoever, whether currently known or hereinafter devised, without any further obligation or compensation payable to you.
Returned checks. If you pay by check please note that we impose a charge of $15.00 for each item returned to us unpaid.
Booking a tour via the internet. If you intend to pay with a credit or debit card, we encourage you to book your tour via our website. Your booking over the internet signifies that you've read and accepted all the material appearing as part of these Travel Terms & Conditions. You aren't guaranteed a place on a tour until you've received a receipt letter via email.
Booking a tour at the last minute. While early registration is advised to guarantee a spot, reservations accompanied by full payment will be accepted until the day of departure (if space is still available).
Travel insurance. We strongly recommend you consider the purchase of travel insurance for any tour you select. Travel insurance is a combination of trip cancellation insurance and 24 hour emergency assistance.
Important: If you must cancel a trip after the cancellation/transfer deadline has gone by, the only way you can recover any of the money you’ve paid is with proper trip insurance or by finding a suitable person to take your place on the tour.

If you must cancel and you find a suitable person to take your place on the tour, we'll allow you to transfer your place to that individual without penalty.
If you're participating in a Cultural Hi-Ways tour as part of an educational course offered by the Borough of Manhattan Community College (BMCC), then BMCC's cancellation policy will apply.
If you cancel. To cancel your booking you MUST CALL US IMMEDIATELY and send us written notice of cancellation via email.
If you change your overnight tour booking. You'll be charged a fee of $25 should you transfer your booking to an alternate departure date or different Cultural Hi-Ways tour. Transfers may take place 15 days or more before the departure date you originally booked. Any change made to a booking less than 15 days before departure will be treated as a cancellation and normal cancellation fees will apply.
If you cancel a booking for a day trip or event. If you cancel a booking for a day trip or event you'll forfeit 100% of the amount you paid. You may, however, transfer your booking to another suitable person age 18 or over.
If you miss your tour's departure. If you fail to join a tour, join it after it has departed or leave it prior to completion, no refund can be made.
Refund for individual tour elements. There can be no refund related to the cost of any individual element of the tour, such as an included excursion, that you don't take.
If we must change or cancel. On rare occasions it may be necessary to change or cancel your booking and we must reserve the right to do so. If it's necessary to cancel, we'll try to give you as much notice as possible and offer a comparable alternative (if available). If the alternative isn't available or acceptable, we'll offer you a full refund of the monies you've paid, or you may transfer to another tour without paying any transfer fee. If the cancellation of a tour is due to circumstances beyond our control (circumstances like Acts of God, closure of roads or other circumstances beyond the control of Cultural Hi-Ways), we'll give you a full refund less reasonable expenses incurred by us.
Arbitration and waiver of trial by jury, You agree to present any claims against us within ninety (90) days after your tour ends and to file any suit within one (1) year of the incident, and you acknowledge that this expressly limits the applicable statute of limitations to one (1) year. In lieu of litigation and jury trials, each of which is expressly waived, any dispute concerning, relating or referring to these Travel Terms & Conditions or any literature concerning your trip or the tour shall be resolved exclusively by binding arbitration in Jensen Beach, Florida, according to the then existing commercial rules of the American Arbitration Association. Such proceeding will be governed by the substantive law of the State of Florida. The arbitrator(s) and not any federal, state, or local court or agency shall have exclusive authority to resolve any dispute relating to the interpretation, applicability, enforceability, conscionability, or formation of these Travel Terms & Conditions, including but not limited to any claim that all or any part of these Travel Terms & Conditions are void or voidable.
General. Facsimile or scanned transmission of any signed document shall be deemed delivery of an original.
Cultural Hi-Ways reserves the right to decline to accept any person as a member of the tour, or to require any participant to withdraw from the tour at any time who presents a significant risk to the health or safety of herself/himself or others which can't be eliminated or reduced to an acceptable level by the reasonable accommodation of Cultural Hi-Ways.
